Why have a make up routine?
I have learned self care is so important especially as a new mom! Doing my make up everyday makes me feel put together and more “me.” I have noticed I am a lot more productive when I do my make up in the morning verses the days I don’t get ready. I am happy I have discovered an easy routine that works for me and hope it inspires you too!
- Tula Face Filter and Blurring and Moisturizing Primer – this is a tried and true product I have been using for years. It works as a real life face filter to blur out imperfections and provide light coverage without using foundation. I wear the lightest shade Luna. I also have a discount code for 15% off: COLLEENCOOK.
- Anastasia Brow Powder Duo – my eyebrows are on the thinner side so I like to fill them in a little bit. I wear the shade taupe.
- Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer – I have tried several other brands but this is my favorite. I wear the original shade.
- Nars Orgasm X Blush – the prettiest pink/peach shade with some shimmer!
- Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray – this is a holy grail item! I originally purchased it in the beginning of the pandemic when we were wearing masks everywhere. I wanted a product that would help me make up stay on and prevent the transfer to my mask. I tried this setting spray out and have been using it since!
- Eyeliner – I will alternate brands with my eyeliner because I just have a lot at my house! I am currently using the Kaja one but also like the brand Stila.
- Mascara Primer – there are two brands I will alternate between: the Dior one and the Urban Decay one. I think the Urban Decay gives more volume but the Dior tube lasts longer and is better at separating lashes. I get questions about why I use this and what it does. It adds volume and length to your lashes and helps keep the mascara on longer! When I don’t use this I notice a huge difference.
- Mascara – I will also alternate the brands of mascara I use because I have so many tubes at home. My favorite for long, separated lashes is the Benefit They’re Real Mascara. What I have been using recently is the Rise mascara from Milk Make up. The volume is unmatched!
More tips
- I know you may not like wearing make up and that’s okay! Even if you find an skincare routine as simple as moisturizer and sunscreen it can still make a difference in your productivity everyday. It’s all about finding what works for you!
- If I have less time (5 mins) or want something even more simple, I will skip the blush, bronzer and sometimes even eyeliner.
- Keeping everything in one place saves you time. I used to keep all the products separate by category – my eyeliner and mascara in the drawer with the rest of my eye make up, etc. Then I decided to make it even less complicated and put these products all in one container in my top drawer in the bathroom. This has made getting ready easier and quicker and I never have to look for products.
