How to Create an at Home Blowout

I have always had naturally straight hair with little volume. The only way I really like it straight is if I blow it out. After years of trying various products and tools from different brands I have finally discovered a routine that works for me!

Dyson Air Wrap

After using the Revlon blow dry brush for while, I finally decided to upgrade to the Dyson air wrap. It is an investment but it has been so worth it to me. I have noticed my hair has significantly less breakage and feels soo much softer!

Step 1: Wash hair

I use the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. I have really oily hair and the shampoo does a great job at getting out all the dirt and grease. One tip my stylist told me is to wash my hair twice every time I wash it. The first wash really does not create suds so the second wash is crucial! Taking this step helps my hair stay cleaner for longer.

Step 2: Dry hair until it is about 70% dry

I always wrap my hair in a towel immediately after getting out of the shower so my hair is not dripping wet. I will keep it in the towel for about 5-15 minutes.

You want to dry your hair until it is about 70% dry before using the round brush attachment. I usually let my hair air dry. When I am short on time, I will use the blow dry attachment.

Step 3: Spray with leave in conditioner

I have been using the It’s a 10 Miracle leave-in spray with keratin for years and love it so much. It is expensive, but one bottle lasts me a year and a small amount goes a long way.

Step 4: Comb hair

I like to start with parting my hair with a comb with a metal tail. Next I will use a wide tooth comb to detangle the rest of my hair.

Step 5: Section off hair with a clip

This process goes so much better when I section off my hair. I usually style one third of my hair at a time.

Step 6: Style hair with round brush attachment

Once my hair is sectioned off, I will start with the bottom section. I take the round brush attachment and dry my hair from underneath. I try to keep the brush turned to my hair so that the ends curl into my face as opposed to away from my face.

Step 7: Repeat steps 5-6

I keep repeating steps 5-6, brushing in between as needed.

Step 8: Spray hair with dry shampoo

Once my hair is 100% dry, I will spray it with dry shampoo. I have been loving the Living Proof one recently – it gives a lot of volume, smells good and keeps my hair cleaner than other brands.
