If I could only shop at one store for the rest of my life, I would probably choose Nordstrom! They have so many good brands, sales and I love their rewards system. Each summer, they host a huge annual sale called the Anniversary Sale. I’ve been shopping the sale for years since college, and I can’t wait for this year’s! Keep reading for more info.
What is the Nordstrom anniversary sale aka the NSALE Sale?
Each summer, Nordstrom hosts a huge sale that lasts a few weeks. Lots of popular items from many top brands are included that do not typically go on sale (Hunter Boots, Barefoot Dreams, Sam Edelman, Steve Madden, Free People to name a few!).
When is the sale?
- July 6th: preview for cardholders
- July 12th: sale opens to Icon members
- July 16th: sale opens to Ambassador members
- July 18th: sale opens to Influencer members *this is the level I have
- July 28th: sale opens to the public
- August 8th: sale ends
There are a few different membership tiers, so your membership “level” or “status” dictates which day you can start shopping the sale. It does open to the public (non-members) later in the sale, but there are popular items that will sell out by then. However, I think it is still worth checking out! Membership details
As I mentioned before, your membership level determines how soon you can start shopping the sale. How much you spend per year determines your membership level. Even if you have never purchased anything from Nordstrom or do not plan to before the sale, I would still recommend creating a basic membership. It is free to sign up/create an account. It basically just gives you earlier access to the sale, even if you do not end up purchasing anything.

REturn policy
Nordstrom has a wonderful return policy. They will take back nearly anything. They also have free shipping and free returns on everything which is really convenient especially if you do not have a store close by. You can purchase multiple sizes if you are afraid something may sell out. During the sale, if something you want is sold out in your size, you can buy it in another size and Nordstrom will do a price adjustment when your size comes back in stock. I only learned this tip last year and which I knew about it earlier!
how to get the most out of the sale
It can be overwhelming as there are many items included in the NSale. Here are my suggestions:
- Create a Nordstrom account – it is free, and you will be able to save items in your cart and also create wishlist.
- Follow me on Like to Know It – the free app where I will be sharing my personal picks from the sale.
- Keep checking back on colleenccook.com – I will be sharing additional blog posts covering the sale once it starts.
- Know what day and time you can start shopping – this will help you stay organized so you have higher chances of an item stills you can shop ASAP and lower the chances of something selling out before you have a change to purchase it.
- Make a list of items you need/plan to purchase and stick to it – it is so easy to go overboard. There are thousands of items included in the sale. I will say it is usually winter items, so I would suggest looking through your closet ahead of time. This way you can figure out what you really need and do not need!
