If it is not already obvious I am obsessed with Free People! People often tell me, “You wear so much Free People… How can you afford it?” Or they say they love Free People but that it’s too expensive for them so they don’t even bother looking at it. And if you know the brand, you know it’s not cheap. I rarely pay retail price and have found so many good deals from various places. I am so excited to spill to you some of my shopping secrets!
I figured I would organize this by items and explain how I came across each individual item at a friendly price! For reference I am 5’3″ and am wearing size XS in each item.
Free People Pavlo Dress
Retail – $128
Paid – $30
Purchased at: Macy’s
I have found Macy’s to be one of the top places to shop for Free People deals. If you have a Macy’s card, you can get even more discounts. I like shopping on their website because their prices are accurate so you know what you will pay off the bat. Shopping in store can be a challenge because some of their items are not marked down on the tags, making it seem like you will be paying full price. When I purchased this dress, the tag had no markdown sticker but came up on the register as only $30. And to think I was about to pay over $100! This dress happened to be part of their “Last Act” aka clearance section so it is not available on their site. So next time you think about passing the Free People section at Macy’s, take a peak and double check the price!
Free People South Side Thermal Top
Retail: $68
Paid: $39.99
Purchased at: Nordstrom
I tried on this top in the Nordstrom dressing room and it went on sale shortly after. You may think of Nordstrom as an expensive store but I do find amazing deals there! This top does not go on sale often, especially for under $40 so when I saw the price drop I was surprised. I did purchase this one online. I make sure to check the site regularly to find out what sales are going on! I don’t think Nordstrom is as slacking when it comes to updating their prices in store compared to Macy’s but I have found that department stores in general tend to miss adding sale signs to clothes. You never know if the top you put back because you thought it was $70 turned out to only be $40. So make sure to always ask! I actually found this exact color and a bunch of the other colors on sale for under $35 online at Belk!
Free People Adella Bralette (white)
Retail: $38
Paid: $26.60
Purchased at: South Moon Under
I purchased this bralette in store at the South Moon Under in Towson. Every once in awhile they will do 20-30% off full-priced items which is when I got this. South Moon Under always has a ton of Free People clothes! I signed up for their email chain which is how I find out when they do discounts. They also always have a sale section (usually with some free people stuff) and will do additional discounts on clearance! Like right now they have an extra 20% off all clearance. I find that items sell out faster online than in store but I would recommend checking both!
Free People Adella Bralette (red)
Retail: $38
Paid: $15 and some change
Purchased from: Macy’s
Another Macy’s find, except this one I bought online. I think I was just searching one day at their Free People sale selection and noticed this! There were several other colors available at the time (this past fall). Unfortunately it is not on sale at Macy’s anymore but I did find this exact color on Free People’s website.
Free People Penny Lace Sleeve Top
Retail: $98
Paid: $45
Purchased at: Nordstrom Rack
If you know me you know that I LOVE Nordstrom Rack! I could write a whole blog post just about that store. I don’t usually shop online unless I know what I’m looking for, although they do have a TON of Free People clothes at all times! They always have a few racks designated for Free People items where I found this peplum tee. Nordstrom Rack usually has Free People clothes on their clearance rack too. The store even does Clear the Rack, which is an additional 20-25% off all clearance items. You can easily score some major discounts on Free People then! I have Nordstrom credit and debit cards and get rewarded for shopping there. Who doesn’t love getting paid to shop?! I did buy this top several months ago and cannot find it at Nordstrom Rack anymore but did actually find it cheaper online at Belk!
Free People Symphony Dress
Retail: $88
Paid: $20
Purchased from: Poshmark
I will have to make a separate post about Poshmark another time but I find so many great deals on there, including this super cute dress! If you haven’t used Poshmark, it is a site kind of like eBay where anyone can buy and sell clothes. People are constantly selling Free People items and I have even sold a bunch on my site https://poshmark.com/closet/colleenccook . Items can be NWT (new with tags), in new without tag condition, gently used, or used condition. I did buy this dress NWT! If you are hesitant about purchasing anything there, Poshmark support is excellent for buyers in that if the item is not as listed they will give your money back (contingent upon terms) so you really have nothing to lose! The link I attached to the photo on the bottom I found from typing in “Free People Symphony Dress” on Poshmark, so there are various sizes, prices, conditions and even colors! You can make offers and some users will even sell through PayPal so you don’t have to pay as much.
Free People Sequin Slipdress
Retail: $78
Paid: $24.99
Purchased from: Free People
I do not have a photo in this dress because I haven’t worn it yet but wanted to share since it was such a good deal. I also haven’t mentioned the actual Free People store yet! Like I said in the intro, I know people who don’t even look in the window because of the prices. Let me tell you that their sales are amazing! Like many of the other stores I mentioned, Free People does additionally discount the sale section. I would recommend shopping in store as opposed to online because for some reason the items on sale are always more expensive online (or not even on sale). If the store does not have your size they can ship it to you for free at the discounted price. This dress is not available through Free People anymore but I did find it fully stocked at Nordstrom Rack.
Free People Dahlia Top
Retail: $68
Paid: $24
Purchased from: Marshalls
I can always find Free People at the Marshalls and TJ Maxx by my house. Usually there are racks specific for the brand but sometimes I have to do some digging. The deals I find, this top, are always worth it!
Free People Too Good Sweater
Retail: $78
Paid: $40
Purchased from: Nordstrom
I bought this at Nordstrom several months ago. It is still on sale but not as discounted.
Free People Cora Dress
Retail $188
Paid: $68
Purchased from: Poshmark
This one was still somewhat of a splurge even thought I got it for over 60% off. I actually ended up selling this dress on Poshmark but wish I had kept it!
Free People Busted Knee Skinny Jeans
Retail: $78
Paid: $39
Purchased from: Macy’s
These jeans were another successful online Macy’s purchase! They are not currently on sale but hopefully will go back soon!
Free People Popcorn Pullover
Retail: $88
Paid: $47
Purchased from: Macy’s
I actually bought both the black and white sweaters from Macy’s online! Right now the cream one is available at Macy’s for under $52 with code BIG and the black one is only $45 at Asos.

Thanks Allenia!
I love that one too:)
