Affordable and practical Mother’s Day Gifts

Mother’s Day is coming up super soon (only 10 days away)! I can’t wait to share some of my favorite gifts I have given my mom in the past that she has loved, including some affordable/DIY presents too!

Usually for Mother’s Day my sister and I would take my mom to brunch, but since she moved to FL a few weeks ago that’s not really an option. My mom is not materialistic and definitely appreciates practical gifts more than something like a designer wallet or jewelry, so I decided to focus my gift guide more on practical presents. You also don’t need to spend $100 to make your mom feel special on Mother’s Day, and honestly most moms appreciate sentimental gifts more than items you can buy at a store anyway!

I also know gift guides can get overwhelming (and you’re probably already seen a bunch of them already) so I only included a few gifts I absolutely think are something every single mom would love and appreciate.

Gifts under $10

if you’re on a tight budget, or just want to give your mom something more sentimental, here are a few ideas! You could even combine a few.

  • Handwritten letter/card – probably my mom’s favorite gift! This is super affordable.
  • Flowers – Trader Joe’s has flowers for as low as $3.99.
  • Chocolate/candy – my mom loves Trader Joe’s chocolate candy
  • DIY coupon book – You can get crafty with this, or simply write out on index cards. Ex “this coupon is good for one back massage” etc.
  • Photo frame – You can find cute ones for under $10 at Marshalls/TJ Maxx

Gifts under $30

  • Brunch/lunch date – doesn’t have to be a super fancy restaurant! You could even do a dessert date.
  • Spa basket – could add nail polish, fuzzy socks, face mask, really whatever you want!
  • Laneige lip sleeping mask – this is great for dry lips, my mom is always looking for her chapstick and this is so much better. She told me to get her the unflavored one, so she wouldn’t be tempted to eat it LOL!
  • Corkcicle cup – this is something my mom asked for a few years ago to keep her coffee and tea hot. Could also be used for wine!
  • Bottle of wine – can’t go wrong with wine!

Gifts Under $50

  • Vanilla Visa Gift card – you can put as much or as little money on this – it’s basically just a gift card you can use anywhere! A cute custom option would be to write a little note with it saying “Use this to pay for your next trip to the movies” or  wherever you want them to use it! You could even add a small bouquet of flowers to go along with it.
  • Tula SPF – when I asked my mom what she wanted for Mother’s Day, she said the Tula sunscreen, so that’s what she is getting! You can use my code COLLEENCOOK for a discount on every Tula purchase.

  • Barefoot dreams cardigan – I have two of these and I would buy them again and again. It feels like you’re wearing a super soft blanket all day! I bought
  • Ugg blanket – Ryan and I have the teal shade of this blanket.  It’s SO soft – it’s expensive, but worth it IMO and will last.
  • My Keyper keyring and bag – I have this set and LOVE it! It’s practical because you can wear the keyring bracelet around your wrist to ahem your hands free, and the bag is cute. I’m actually hosting a giveaway with My Keyper right now over on my Instagram page!
