I’ve spent a lot of time recently reflecting on this past year, and my blog especially. There have been times I have thought about quitting blogging, but ultimately decided this is something that truly makes me happy and I want to grow and continue creating my brand. Here are all my blogging goals for 2022!
Blogging goals
BLOGGING INCOME 20% OF MY TOTAL INCOME
I mentioned this under my General Goals, but wanted to elaborate here. Last year I made around $9,300 which accounted for less than 10% of my total income. Even thought that is not a lot, it is still about double what I made in 2020. I know everyone is not comfortable with this topic but I think it helps a lot in the blogging world. After hearing what other small influencers charge, it makes me realize that there is a ton of money to be made in this field. It also makes me think, They’re doing it, I can do it too! and it’s encouraging to me. So I wanted to share incase but may help someone else. Being an influencer is not something we could go to school for, so unless you have connections you are figuring a lot of it out on your own.
For my blogging income to equal 20% of my total income, I would have to make about $24,000 this year which breaks down to $2,000 per month. Honestly there two months in 2021 that I nearly reached this goal ($1800-1900) so I feel like this is doable.
BUILD STRONGER CONNECTIONS WITH OTHER BLOGGERS
If I try to think of doing my nursing job without any coworkers to help me, there is literally no way I could do it on my own. I think this is why blogging is so difficult – no one went to school for it, we don’t have co workers, or a support system within the blogging community (at least I don’t fee like I do right now.) My goal this year is build a stronger relationship with other bloggers. After seeing a few other influencers do this, I decided to create a close friends list on Instagram with the bloggers I follow. It basically just means when I go to post instagram stories, I have the option of sharing just with my close friends list. I have already exchanged a few brand emails this way, and I think it’s a great way to build relationships and connections.
Maintain a consistent posting schedule
I feel like I was all over the place in 2021 with posting on my blog and Instagram. I started off posting every single day, then started slacking and posting 3-4 days per week which I think kind of halted my ability to grow my account. I also stopped posting on my blog consistently.
- Post on my Instagram feed at least 7 times per week (I eventually would like to increase this to 10, but I don’t think that is realistic right now)
- 2 Blog posts per week
plan ahead
One of the biggest problems I faced this past year was not carving out time to get ahead on weekend content. Since I work at the hospital on the weekends, if I don’t plan out my posts ahead of time they don’t get posted.
- Set aside time once a week to plan my captions, posts etc for the entire week
follow a daily schedule
- Consistent morning routine
- Designated times to do certain tasks
- Respond to all emails within the same day
- Post IG stories every 30-60 minutes
no more gifted campaigns
When I first started blogging, I participated in sooo many gifted campaigns. I did participate in a few in 2021, but plan on being even more selective with gifted campaigns this year. There is one I had mostly committed to in the Spring but it is with a dream brand (I did ask for payment initially). Accepting gifted campaigns takes precious time away from paid campaigns and really only usually benefits the brand.
- ALWAYS ask for payment
- Be very selective with gifted campaigns
15k on IG and Tik Tok
I feel like I have been at a standstill with Instagram recently. I did not gain more followers than I lost in 2021 but my story views increased and I feel like I was able to connect with my audience more. Unfortunately there are some brands that will only work with influencers that have a minimum follower count (one brand told me 15k).
I just started posting a lot on Tik Tok but since a lot more people are using that app and due to the algorithm, it is so much easier to grow there.
- Collaborating at least once a month with other bloggers in my niche, whether it be a giveaway, going reel or story style session
- Post on multiple platforms (Tik Tok, Instagram, repost feed content to Facebook and Pinterest)
- Consistent posting schedule
- Clearer niche (more on that below)
amazon storefront
This is an affiliate marketing platform I am not taking advantage of. I have an account set up, but have not posted on it or shared my Amazon storefront. This way I will be able to categorize all my Amazon purchases and recommendations in one place.
niche down/more pink
Having a specific niche increases chances of success for brands and accounts. I think for the most part I am pretty good about following a specific niche (girly style) but want to be even more specific in the New Year. For right now my goal is to add more pink!
start series
Post series have become more popular recently, are a great way to connect with your audience and grow your brand. I have been wanting to start a Capsule Wardrobe series on Instagram and my blog. Another idea I have for a seres is Organization. These are topics I feel that I am knowledgeable about and can provide a lot of information/content on. I would also be able to easily re use content and share in different ways (reels, stories, blog posts etc). I think I can make them both fit my niche too.
- Organization
- Capsule wardrobe
be more intentional with purcahses
I have gotten better about this over the past year but want to be even more selective with my purchases this year. It is easy to fall into the trap of buying things just to share on my blog. For example, last year I bought a pair of Spanx dupes because I had seen a lot of other bloggers sharing them and it was a popular topic. I made the purchase solely to share with my audience to give them a more affordable option like other bloggers were. I was afraid no one would not be interested in buying the Spanx brand leggings after seeing so many dupes. I literally had no intention of actually wearing the dupe pair myself and size I ordered them online, had no idea what the quality would be like. Well I ended up completely hating them and was not able to share in the way that I wanted. I also purchased them from an online boutique so I could not even get my money back. Ultimately I ended up selling them on Poshmark and losing money. The only good thing to come out of it was I realized it gave more credit to the Spanx leggings, and I learned from my mistake now!
- Do not buy something solely because it is cheap or on sale
- Only buy what I will actually wear/use, not just to share it
- Only use blog income for blog purchases and all clothing etc. Followed this last year too!
create and sell presets
This could be an easy way of making passive income once I figure out how to do it!
figure out taxing documentation
I have been procrastinating on this! I have so many blogging expenses, if I include all my clothing purchases I should be able to write off enough that I don’t owe any money. But I still have to figure out how to do it all!
weekly goals
- 50 LTK posts
- Last Week’s Best Sellers
- 2-3 blog posts
- One day for creating content
- Email list every Monday
update website
This is not a top priority, but I would like to update some of the pages on my site and change up part of the layout.
be more intentional with my time
I feel like I wasted so much time in 2021. I was not following a schedule, would try to shoot content multiple days each week and just felt like I was constantly a mess and not utilizing my time in a smart/productive way.
- Save day light for creating content (limited day light during the day time in the winter)
- Look at the weather more frequently to better plan shoot days etc
- Do tasks in bulk. Like shoot content. This saves so much time
- Use night time for tasks that can be done in the dark like writing blog posts, scheduling posts etc
monthly goals
- $2,000 per month: There were 2 months in 2021 that I came close to this ($1800-1900) so I feel like this is doable! I just have to do that EVERY month.
- Monthly Favorites blog post
- Monthly Top Sellers blog post

I have never used LinkedIn but I have heard it can be a useful tool for blogging services.
