Living in a 720 square foot apartment, it is important to utilize all the space we can! Unfortunately our unit did not come with a linen closet, so Ryan and I were storing our towels in the pantry, the only closet in our apartment with built in shelving. We decided it was time to start utilizing the kitchen closet as an actual pantry, and turn the closet next to the bathroom – my former home for all my dresses and accessories – into a linen and accessories closet.
Shelving
I found this gold shelving unit on Amazon. It is around $65 and took me less than an hour to put together. I added an acrylic bin I already have on top for more storage. This is where we keep all of our extra towels and sheets.
Baskets and boxes
All of the baskets in our linen closet are from Target (clearly Ryan had no say in this part…) I use the smaller white bin to store make up and toiletry bags, the large white basket to keep all of my hair tools together, and the small tan basket to house extra dry shampoo bottles and my steamer. The basket on the top shelf is actually empty so that we can grow into it. I added a few pink shoe boxes to store extra beauty products still in their boxes. My tip with this would be to conceal anything that’s not pretty! I was keeping my hair tools in the acrylic bin before, and could see all the cords etc. The basket is a much better solution!
Purse hangers
I found these acrylic purse hangers on Amazon – they come in a 3 pack and have been so helpful for storing bags. I don’t have to worry about any bags getting damaged or losing their shape. It makes it so easy to pick out bags since I have easy access and can see all of them at the same time.
Laudnry basket
We were way overdue for an upgrade for our old, $5 plastic laundry basket. I wanted something small and this open basket is perfect. Originally I was searching for a basket with a lid, but could never find anything I liked. I also knew I did not want a fabric basket because I knew it would get damp with wet towels etc. and did not want to worry about having to wash it. I am so glad I found this one from Target and its one $40.
