Apartment Tour Part 2: Bedroom Tour

I am so excited to share our bedroom on the blog today! There are just a few things I would change if it were all up to me (like adding a headboard and rug) but I had to give Ryan a littleee say, right?

Anyway, a lot of you told me you wanted to see more home decor so I hope this helps!

Bed

Bed – We have a queen bed! I sleep on the right side (next to the desk) and Ryan sleeps on the left side. The adjustable frame I got for around $50 on Amazon. The mattress I purchased about 2 years ago on Groupon and paid around $400 total for the mattress and box spring – it is super lightweight, supportive and high quality. Sadly I can’t remember the name!

Bedding – We LOVE Ugg sheets! I can’t remember what ours are called but they are ivory and don’t pill. I purchased some from – oh gosh I can’t even remember what brand from Bed Bath (also where we got the Ugg ones) and they were sooo bad and started pilling after one wash. The Ugg ones don’t pill whatsoever!

On top of the bed, we have a duvet. I like that it is easy to store and wash the duvet cover, but it is a pain to take on and off and adjust. Our duvet cover and pillows are old from Anthropologie – linking their duvet section here, and their pillow section here!

As I said before, I would love to have a headboard – specifically a tan, upholstered winged wrap around one that goes around the bed but Ryan really wants to get a King bed whenever we buy a house so I didn’t want to spend money on a queen headboard we may only use a few years (plus I couldn’t convince Ryan to let me buy one anyway haha). I will link some I like below!

Office Corner

I shared my office in the Apartment Tour Part 1: Office Tour blog post that I will link here! I am planning on changing up a few things and can’t wait to share soon!

Dressers + Decor on Top

Dressers + Knobs

Large Dresser – I was so set on buying this big Ikea dresser to put across the bed and luckily I got Ryan on board. I originally thought I was going to purchase the “white” which is the one Kristin from Fancy Things Blog has – she is my Inso for all things home! Ryan and I took a trip to Ikea right after we moved in to make the purchase. Turns out the “white” actually looked a little off-white in person and just not what we were expecting (plus that exact combo was out of stock and I didn’t want to wait 4-6+ weeks for it to be shipped). We actually went with the color “white stain” – which is like a painted white stain instead of a glossy finish like the “white.” Looking back I think the “white” would have worked fine too, but I was definitely in a time crunch and we are happy with the one we took home! (Or at least I am, I don’t think the dresser excited Ryan LOL)

When I first posted about this, I got a lot of messages from you guys saying you have the same one and everyone that messaged me said it was pretty challenging to put together. It did take hours to put together, but I had help from Ryan and his dad which made it a lot better. I think we spend one evening and a few hours in the middle of the next day to finish it. Definitely not a one person job, but do-able as far as putting together if you’re not terrible at following directions.

Small Dresser – I purchased this dresser last year from Target. It took Ryan and I a few hours to put together and also came with a piece for the bottom that it could rest on but we never added it. It did not come with knobs or holes for knobs so we drilled (is that right word? lol) our own. I’m not sure if the one I linked is the exact one I purchased (I cannot remember if I paid $60 or $80 and this one is $80) but if not it is super similar!

Dresser Knobs – Of course I got my whole Inso for this idea from Kristin too. It was super easy to change out the knobs to the big Ikea dresser with the pretty gold and acrylic ones. I purchased some on Etsy that took 6-8 weeks to ship and some from amazon that took 2 days to ship. They are almost identical (the edges of the clear parts are slightly different – and I mean slightly. You can’t notice at all when they are on and unless you’re super detail oriented like me you probably wouldn’t notice at all! I ended up ordering from two places because I didn’t order enough from Etsy the first time and didn’t want to wait even longer to put it together.

Decor

TV – We were not planning on buying a TV for the bedroom, but Ryan’s family had an extra one so it ended up here! We actually hardly ever use it – I think we’ve watched it 3 or 4 times together since we moved in back in June. It is nice to use very once in awhile but it is not a necessity!

Jewelry Organizers – I recently added a jewelry box to my collection so I wanted to share the before and after on here. The bracelet holders and necklace holders are from Kendra Scott, the jewelry box is Kendra Scott and the earring holder is from Amazon!

Mirror – the mirror on the smaller dresser is from Kirkland’s and super affordable. I purchased it before we moved into the apartment but I’m not sure it is something I would have bought after moving in. The only thing though is that the mirror is very heavy and we were scared to try to hang it up in the apartment so it just sits on the dresser. I feel like I never put a lot of thought into decorating the small dresser, I kind of just let Ryan have that one for his side and let it be!

Baskets, Mirror Corner & More!

Mirror – I love this mirror for so many reasons! It is $100 retail but Kirklands is always doing promos so you should be able to easily snag it for $70-80ish but even $100 is a great price for a mirror this nice and big! I love the design and it looks so good in the bedroom. It is perfect for try-ons! I figured it looked best catty-cornered with the lighting and then we use the corner behind it for storage (Ryan’s guitar is currently back there haha!)

Ottoman – This was another Amazon purchase I had actually made for my closet. I have a walk-in with tall shelves and ceilings so I bought the ottoman to use as a stool. It is very pretty and functional. However the color is a bit different than what I was expecting. I thought it would be lighter pink and it is a bit darker but I actually really like it. I took it out of the closet to make more space, and I think it fits well here.

Curtains – I was set on getting blackout curtains since I need to sleep during the day for work. I went with plain white ones and didn’t so much searching. These block out most of the light, not all of it, but enough. Still sooo worth the $50! Linking the curtains here and rod here.

Diffuser – I bought this for Ryan’s most recent birthday because he would always use his mom’s when he lived with her haha! We don’t really have a good place for it, it just kind of sits in the corner by the outlet near the mirror and we mostly use it in the bedroom anyway. Helps us sleep so much better! The one we have is def on the fancy side (I wanted to get a nice one for Ryan!), is ceramic and has a remote that can control the color of the light – so many different options! I got the oils from Amazon (I just googled essential oils, any work!)

Blanket Basket – I don’t remember where I got this – Marshalls or somewhere similar – linked a similar one on Amazon!

Laundry Basket – I looked long and hard for a laundry basket that could double as decor. This one from Amazon matched the basket and has a lid which was a priority for me. I like how it looks but I do not expect it to last us to our next home. Since it is a soft material, whenever we leave wet or smelly clothes in there it also makes the basket smell. You can only smell it if you are like sticking your head in it. We washed it once which was a fiasco because it took hours to dry in the dryer (it was not going to dry on its own) and now has some pills. So, I will probably be on the hunt for a new one in our next home (whenever that is).

I know this was a longer post but I hope it was helpful – if not, feel free to comment if you have any questions! I love home decor and can’t wait to share the rest of our apartment!
